Afghanistan – Bakery & Bread Project

More than 50% of Afghanistan’s population lives below the poverty line, struggling to meet basic needs. Since August 2021, widows, orphans, and vulnerable families have faced one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with food insecurity at critical levels due to economic collapse and drought.

SWAN is providing life-saving bread through weekly distributions in Kabul & Kandahar. The SWAN Bakery in Kandahar employs local bakers, ensuring a sustainable solution while feeding thousands in need. Orphans and widowed families are priority beneficiaries, receiving fresh bread up to three times a week.

SWAN distributed:
🍞 1945 bread packs per week (Kabul) – 7780 per month
🍞 1400 bread packs per week (Kandahar) – 5600 per month
🍞 A total of 447,350 breads throughout the year

Our goal for 2025 is to increase bread distributions and expand our bakery operations, ensuring even more families have access to this essential food source.
